Activating the Friendly Url Provider

The News Articles Friendly Url Provider is a custom plug-in extension for the Url Master module.

As such, activating the provider requires using the Url Master 'Module Providers' interface.

To activate the module, log in as an administrator or 'host' user, and proceed to the Admin->Portal Urls page.

Once there, click on the 'Module Providers' tab.  You should see the list of configured module providers on the page.  If the iFinity News Articles Url Provider is not listed, it has not been installed correctly.

On the left side of the page is a list of all the pages in the DotNetNuke site.  You can configure the Provider to run on a specific page (this is recommended).  This means the provider will only be called for Urls generated on that specific page.

To assign the provider to a page, select the page on the left hand side.  Then move your mouse over to the row of the table that shows all of the configured providers.  When you move your mouse over, you should see a large >> button appear.  Click this button, and the page will be listed under the provider by name.    If you make a mistake, just click on the x next to the page name, and the page will be removed from the provider.

Note, if you do not choose any pages, by default the provider will list 'All Pages in Portal' as the selected option.  This means the provider will be called while building Urls for every page in the portal.  Use this option only if the News Article module is located on every page of your portal.

Click on 'Apply Changes' and this will save the changes and assign that page to the provider.

You can assign pages and change settings on the Provider Settings page without activating the provider.

The News Article Friendly Url Provider extension is activated when you click on the checkbox listed under 'Use this provider'.  Check this box and Apply Changes, and the provider is activated.

Note: The Module Providers are done on a portal-by-portal basis.
