Hi there,

I am wondering if you can help.

We are experiencing incredibly slow login times on our site and one of the things that I have changed on the host this week has been the addition of this user tracking script. Is it possible that when logging in the user is being bogged down by this script capturing their details?

The login times can be anything from 15-60 seconds. What I have noticed is that if you navigate away from the login page shortly after clicking “Login” you are actually already logged in and can browse the site normally. There seems to be an issue not so much with logging the user in but actually then sending him on to whatever page was requested.

How can we disable this script to see if it perhaps part of this issue?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Regards,

Donovan

Don - the user visit detail report runs off pre-existing data : there is no extra logging put in place. It's just another view of the existing log file information. There will be no extra impact at all from this script, so it's not the problem.

If you have long response times after logging in, check to see that your site isn't a redirect loop or something like that. I advise tracing the http traffic with Micrsooft Fiddler (it's a free tool) and see what happens after the submission. This will identify which part of the webpage request is taking the time.

Hi Bruce,
I thought as much, I am really not sure what to do as the site has become almost unusable because of this damn login issue.
Would it be possible to contract you to take a look at it for me now? Could I perhaps give you a call to discuss the issue?
Regards,
Donovan

I assume this is the app you're talking about?

Fiddler is available directly from http://www.fiddlertool.com anything else I wouldn't trust.

The earliest I could take a look at it for you would be next week, so if it's a problem right now I wouldn't be the best person to speak to. I'm not in the office at the moment.
