Hi,

I have many Duplicate meta descriptions title. For example:

/word/ArticleId/457/The-Book-is-on-the-table

or

/word/articleId/457/the-book-is-on-the-table (lower case)

How can I solve this duplicate problem?

(I have istalled canonical linker and the last version of url master)

Ok. I have solved but only write the code forceLowerCase="true" in web.config because with the url master control panel I have this error:

Error: Portal Urls not available. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\inetpub\vhosts\website\httpdocs\web.config' because it is being used by another process. ---> System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\inetpub\vhosts\website\httpdocs\web.config' because it is being used by another process. at iFinity.DNN.Modules.UrlMaster.ConfigurationController.SaveChanges(FriendlyUrlSettings settings, ModuleFriendlyUrlProviderCol moduleProviders, String httpModuleType, String friendlyUrlType, Boolean removeAll, Boolean settingsOnly) at iFinity.DNN.Modules.UrlMaster.ConfigurationController.SaveSettings(FriendlyUrlSettings settings, ModuleFriendlyUrlProviderCol moduleProviders) at iFinity.DNN.Modules.UrlMaster.UI.Controls.PageList.btnSave_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

You've described a duplicate meta title but you've actually shown the Url.  Duplicate Meta Title errors are because many pages have the same <title> tags in the Html - or, in other words, many page titles are the same.

Neither the Url nor the Canonical links affect the page titles - this is controlled by the software that displays the content (either just the DNN pages, or a module on the page).

As for the web.config error - this is caused by two processes trying to access the web.config file at once.  You can try again after an application restart, and if that still doesn't work, you can write the 'forceLowerCase="true"' value into the web.config entry manually (ie, edit the web.config file yourself).  Just be sure to take a backup before doing any manual changes to the web.config file.

Hi Bruce,
sorry, It's true.
I have indicated the url because the title was identical and
the difference was in the url (lowercase or not). Google see two different pages with the same title but I have
only one page. For some reason google have indexed the same page in uppercase and lowercase.
Now, after my config changes, the url is only in lowercase and I hope that google remove this duplicate title soon.
thank you

Hi bruce,

I don't be able to configure correctly the canonical linker module. For example, I have two duplicate links in gloogle webmaster tools:

(This is a link generated from dnnarticle module)

/article/articleid/233/a-b-c-d-e     and

/article/articleid/233/a-b-c-d-e/dnnprintmode/true?skinsrc=%5Bg%5Dskins/ _default/no%20skin&containersrc=%5Bg%5Dcontainers/_default/no%20container

1) I have set to "Page Url with Requested Querystring" and

2) in "    Exclude these keys" I have added " /dnnprintmode/true?skinsrc=%5Bg%5Dskins/ _default/no%20skin&containersrc=%5Bg%5Dcontainers/_default/no%20container     "

Is this the correct way?

thanks
