Hi Bruce,

I’ve noticed that your sitemap has an entry for the root of the domain:

<url>
<loc>http://www.ifinity.com.au/</loc>
<lastmod>2010-03-16</lastmod>
<changefreq>daily</changefreq>
<priority>0.8</priority>
</url>

I have implemented GoogleSitemap but it doesn’t generate the entry for the root domain. Is there any way to add this and also the higher priority as well?

Many Thanks

The priorities come about from (I think) DNN 5.2 or later.  The module picks up the page priorities from the DNN page settings.

The site root is because of the Url Master module, which generates the home page Url as a site root.  You can also use the iFinity Friendly Url Provider, which will generate the home page as the site root as well.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Unfortunately I am using DNN 5.1.4 and not planning an upgrade for some time. I also don’t plan on using the iFinity Friendly Url Provider for this particular website.

Is the entry for the ‘root domain’ important/required for the sitemap? or an entry for home.aspx or default.aspx?

Are there any ways to add an entry without upgrading or installing the URL provider?

Note the sitemap hasn’t generated an entry for:
http://www.example.com/home.aspx
or
http://www.example.com/default.aspx

I dont plan on using any modules on this particular site, but do plan on using 'URL master' for some other websites I have in progress.

No, not really.  A search engine must know the site root Url because that's where the sitemap itself comes from (ie example.com/sitemap.aspx)

You don't really want the /default.aspx page indexed if you can avoid it, because it creates duplicate content to the site root page.  Same goes for /home.aspx

The Url Master module does away with the home.aspx page so the home page just shows the site root Url.
