News articles is often used more than once on a commercial site.  For example on one site I run it's used for both blogs (which are author focused) and in another on the same site as technical articles which are category focused.

I was thinking it would be pretty cool to be able to apply your provider config at a module instance level so each instance of News Article might generate different urls based on how it's being used.

Additionally, I would like to see the provider include support for both author and/or categories in the url patterns.

Both of these would allow admins to do things like this for blogs:

http://mysite.com/blogs/steven-webster/2012/1/25/this-is-a-blog-about-firewalls

and for technical articles something like this:

http://mysite.com/tech-articles/security/firewall/this-is-a-tech-article-about-firewalls

Ok first up, you can configure your News ARticle provider on a tab by tab basis.  When you load up the news article provider settings, each tab you have asssigned the provider to gets a different section, and allows for different settings.  To do this, you've first got to assign tabs in the 'module providers' tab of the admin->portal urls page.

By doing this you can get a choice between the blog style urls (yyyy/mm/dd/blog-title) and article style urls (/article-title) for different pages within the one installation. ( I was listening to your wish-list! )

The author name as path idea is an interesting one.  If you have a multi-author blog page I guess it would be a good idea.  I'll take a look at how that could be implemented.

Bruce, awesome on the tab level config...I had no idea it already worked like that.

Yes, this would be on a multi author blog.
