I have a client requesting that I implement a 301 redirect

mostly they talking about the www versus non www rediret --

I have installed url master of 5 websites now such as drmacrene.com

I though the url master did that by default

I am wrong to assume that - or should I also make changes in IIS to do so when I ran a tool to the check the url on that particular domain, or look at the http headers it does not look like there is a 301 redirect

thank you for you quick response.

No, the module doesn't do this by default. It's an option you need to switch on.

If all 5 websites in your installation use the 'www' prefix, then you can tick the 'redirect to subdomain' option, and enter 'www' as the subdomain.

If you have a mixture of sites on your installation, and you don't want a blanket www redirect across all sites, then please follow the instructions listed there : http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/KB...

Yes that's what I though but last time I changed the setting I ending up with indefinate loop.

I did not realise though that all I have to add a www as the subdomain. I assume that 'www' is without the quotes or are the quotes needed.

Sorry this might sound like a stupid question but I rather be carefull as the website is live.

I will try on a production website first with a test licence.
thank you

Just make sure you have both the non-www and www version of your domain name set up as portal aliases for your site.
