Re: ,,Re: Tab Dictionary built and cached - too often

Hi Bruce,

Please disregard the license problems as this was on some non-public pages and somehow this is not occuring anymore :).

I have the latest version of UVG (2.4.3) installed and moved NeatUpload to the top of the HttpModules section. However, I have disabled it right now so that should be fine. I'd better uncheck the forcing of the lower case because I currently have this selected. A shame because I really love this option.

You mentioned the "ForceRebuild=False" settings, which can be changed in the Friendly Url Settings. Is this the setting called "Produce an Exception in the Site Log if two pages have the same name/path"?

Thanks in advance,

Marc

This isn't a setting - the 'forceRebuild=false' is a message that is shown in the event log when the page cache gets flushed and a new page index is built.  If it says 'forceRebuild=true', then it was because either new changes were saved to the Urls, or there was a match on the regex pattern in the 'triggerDictionaryRebuild' field.  If it says 'forceREbuild=false' it was because the web server flushed the cache either due to cache expiry, or due to freeing up system resources.

Re: ,,Re: Tab Dictionary built and cached - too often

Hi Bruce,

Could this also be occuring because of the combination Pageblaster & URL Master. Both have options for the cache. Could this be clashing somehow??

Thanks in advance,

Marc Huijbregts

Re: ,,Re: Tab Dictionary built and cached - too often

Hi Bruce

I'm also running pageblaster and receiving one of these events every 1-2 mins. I know i can turn the messages off but should the rebuild be occurring this frequently or is it highlighting another issue?

Thanks

Adam

Re: ,,Re: Tab Dictionary built and cached - too often

Frequent rebuilds usually highlight the fact that the server doesn't have enough spare resources to hold something in the cache for a long time.

You can reduce the size of the page cache by removing unnecessary portal aliases, deleting any unwanted pages (remove from recycle bin as well).

Ultimately if your site is performing OK it doesn't really matter.  Just switch off the messages and only investigate if you notice poor performance.
