Unable to display HOME page after installation

have installed URL Master V1.12, and when I have enabled it, I am unable to connect/see my Home page.  If I turn the URL master off I can then see the home page.  I followed the instructions given with the module.

My DNN installation is 4.08.04.

I am also running a few aliases on my domain.

Have also just noticed that with the module disabled, it would seem that the friendly URL's are working i.e. the home page is www.mydomain.com/home.aspx.

Grateful for any help and assistance.

Re: Unable to display HOME page after installation

When you say 'can't see your home page' - do you mean it gets a 404 when you request it, or there is no friendly url generated in your menus?

The system will show the 'root' for your home page - it won't show home.aspx as you might expect.

The reason you're seeing the 'friendly' url of home.aspx after you switch off the rewriter is that the process of installing/uninstalling sets the urlFormat='HumanFriendly' in your web.config file.  You can just remove this attribute to get the site back to the full DNN style urls of /tabid/nn/default.aspx

Re: Unable to display HOME page after installation

Bruce, thanks for your reply...

when I say "I can't see the home page", what I actually mean is that it tries to load the home page but all I catually get is a white page in Explorer with nothing on it.  In the bottom of IE in the status bar, it seems to be going round in a circle saying the website name then chaning to loading... but it is so fast I can see what it is trying to load.

If it helps I will run Fiddler on it so that you can get some data.

Regarding the home page URL after I have disabled.  You are correct with it disabled I can get to my home page OK, AND still have friendly URL's.  Therefore is redirecting something else?

Thanks in advance. John

Re: Unable to display HOME page after installation

Jon

I'm pretty certain that your problem is you have ticked the 'redirect default.aspx to site root' option.  You can only check this option if you have your IIS configuration set up to accept 'wildcard' extensions.

Just go to your 'friendly url settings' page, and uncheck the 'redirect default.aspx' option, save changes and you should be OK.
