Raldo : it does happen sometimes that the install/upgrade process can't copy across the files because of locking issues.  Generally this will show up as an error in the install process, but depending on your skin you may not have noticed.

You could try upgrading again - if you can do a restart of your server and do the upgrade straight afterwards this might help, I realise that might not be possible.

You can also try uninstalling and re-installing, but this will lose any settings you have.  You can do a backup of your web.config to preserve most of the settings, but any custom urls you have entered will be lost.

You can manually apply the changes by extracting the files from the install zip and manually copying them.  Between 1.14.8 and 1.14.9 there is an extra sql provider that you would need to run at the same time : just do this through the host->sql page.

UrlMaster now breaks the language switching ability. I'm running Url Master v1.14.11.0 on DNN 5.1.1CE. There are 2 langugaes installed, English and Spanish. I have tried boththe DotNetNuke language switcher and the Apollo language switcher, and both are broken. I have also tried them with, and without, the setting "Enable Language Parameter in URLs," which controld whether /language/en-US is in the URL string. Nothing works.

Any advice would be much appreciated. To keep existing SEO rank, we're operating sites with the language switchers broken and UrlMaster enabled for the time being. It seemed like the lesser of 2 evils.

When you say 'nothing works' - can you give me a more specific example of the urls?  Are the language parameters not showing up, or are you getting 404 errors?

There's a toggle within DNN for whether the language is included in the URL (such as .../language/en-US/...). Whether that is enabled or disabled made no difference in that no language switching was done anyway. In other words, when trying to switch languages, a page full of English redisplays in English when it should be displaying in Spanish.

There aren't any traceable errors - either in the DNN logs or the IIS logs - and no errors get displayed on screen.

When trying to switch languages by either selecting the locale in a dropdown, or clicking a flag that's displayed, the page seems to refresh but no languiage switching is performed.

It's pretty easy to recereate - just install an additional language pack and choose one of the stock DNN skins for display that contains the Languiage control (most of them have it I think).

With my testing on 5.1.1 I've had no trouble with language switching : see below screenshots:

with ca-fr:

It might be something to do with either your particular install, or perhaps the language packs?    From your descriptoin, on your site, you don't see a change in language like the one shown here?
