I added the wildcard extension to IIS, and then changed the settings in the “Friendly URL Settings” to “Never use page extension”. Now, instead of getting an error (when going to www.mysite.com/page), I get a blank page. Also, when I made this change, all of a sudden I get the message on all pages “iFinity Url Master is unlicensed…” (I previously did not see this message). I uploaded the license file I was sent, but it still doesn’t work properly (still blank pages, and still "unlicensed" message). I tried switching back to “Always use page extension”, but it's still not working. What am I doing wrong? It doesn't seem like the license file worked properly as, on the status page I have a red X with the message "No match found in license".

Hi

The first thing to do is to verify that your site is working OK without the Url Master module enabled.  So disable the module, and make sure that the site is still working with the wildcards switched on.  A common mistake is to tick the 'verify file exists' checkbox when changing the wildcard settings.

If the site is working OK with the wildcard registration, then you can try switching on the 'Never use page extension'.

As for the licence : If you have a valid licence for the site, then the page extensions have no affect on it.  No match found in licence means that the domain in the licence is different from the domain you're using (could it be a testing domain or ip address?)

Hello Bruce,

When you say 'disable the Url Master module', do you mean to uninstall it? I don't see an option to disable it. Also, I don't see an option for 'verify file exits' in either the module or IIS wildcard settings, so I'm not sure what to do here.

The license doesn't seem to be valid for our portal. Here's the info on the license info tab:

Portal Alias Licence Status
MyBiteSite | Search | Find | Eat | Restaurant (Portal:0)
http://localhost/dnnmbs No match found in licence : http://localhost/dnnmbs

Ok the licencing problem is probably that you don't have a 'localhost' domain in your licence, that's easily fixed by sending you a new licence with the 'localhost' domain in it.

What I mean by 'disable' is to use the button on the bottom of the 'Friendly Url Settings' page, which switches the module on or off.  I don't mean uninstall.  The module is either active or inactive, depending on whether you've used the 'revert' button or 'apply' button.  When the module is inactive, you'll get a message at the top of the screen saying so.  When it's inactive, it doesn't actually change the urls on the site at all.  Try using the 'revert' button and see if your problem still applies : this will narrow it down so that you know whether or not it's the Url Master module actually causing the issues.

When I 'revert to the standard provider', the site works properly. When I 'apply', then I get blank screens. Could it have anything to do with the license file?
