 Hi Bruce,

I am running DNN 5.14 (I think it's the last release prior to 5.2) and URL Master 1.15.01.

I have a page, /page, that I want 301 redirected to /page2. When I go to /page2 and select add URL and type /page, everything works. When I test it, works fine, too.

Now, I have another scenario that is not working.

I have page.aspx, that I want 301'd to /page2. However, I get a 404 when I try to access page.aspx.

My site is not using page extensions.

Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug or is there a work-around?

Here's a sample screen shot of my URL Editor page:

Try removing the .aspx from the end of your redirect - apply the changes and see if that makes a difference.

In general, the .aspx extension is ignored by the software, so page and page.aspx are treated much the same.

Removing the .aspx does make a difference.

But I need to keep the .aspx on there. This was the original URL for the file on the old site and I need it redirected to the new location.

Lucas - are you saying that the redirect for the original .aspx Url doesn't work?  Please test that out.

What I am saying is that, for the redirects added in, the software discards the .aspx.  It will redirect the Url even though the .aspx isn't shown on the entered redirect.

Maybe I don't understand the purpose of the additional URL feature. We are replacing an older non-DNN site with a DNN site. On the old site, the URL for products was /our-products.aspx. On the new site, the URL is /products (we are not using page extensions.)

I go to the Friendly URL Admin tab, select the /products page and add our-products.aspx as an additional URL. I assume then, when we switch our site over to the new system, if someone is following a link to /our-products.aspx that they will get 301 redirected to /products.

For SEO purposes, our link juice gets passed to the new file name and we keep our search engine rankings.

Are my assumptions about URL Master  incorrect? Or, is this a bug?

As I said before, when I access /our-products.aspx I get a 404 not found.
