Hi,

I have a DNN site with URL Master installed and I am about to do a domain migration to put a new DNN site (with URL Master also) where the old site was. I.e:

Current state:

  • www.mysite.com.au - existing DNN site with URL Master

Desired state:

  • www.mysite.com.au - new DNN site with URL Master
  • www.mysecondsite.com.au - existing DNN site with URL Master

I was intending on using the URL Master module to run my 301 redirects for the domain migration of the existing site, but when I go to enter the 'old' URLs to redirect to the 'new' URLs I cant because the 'new' domain is already populated. Is there a way of turning this off?

Thanks in advance.

Sam

Sam : is 'mysite.com.au' and 'mysecondsite.com.au' the same portal, or are these two different portals on the one install (or separate installs)

If you have a large amount of overlap between the two sites (ie the urls match) then you don't need to redirect, because the 'old' urls will still work.

Perhaps you can expand your explanation with a couple of example urls that you're trying to handle?

Hi Bruce

The two sites that we have are actually in seperate installs, but both on DNN 4.9.1.

Thanks

Sam

OK - can you show me examples of the redirects needed?

Hi Bruce

Here is a small sample of the URLs that will need to be migrated:

  • http://www.reckon.com.au/MediaReleases/tabid/63/Default.aspx

need to be redirected to (respectively):

  • http://www.reckonlimited.com.au/Media-Releases

The www.reckon.com.au domain will have another site being placed there with URL Master. If you visit there now you will see our landing page and the full site is located at www.reckon.com.au/partners.

Regards

Sam
