Too frequent event klog viewer "URL MASTER"

 Bruce Chapman wrote

As for the page rebuild index, in your 'Host -> Friendly Url Settings' page, you should see an option in the 'Regex Filters' which has the heading of this 'Rebuild Page Index and Update Cache when Url matches this Regex'.  In it is a regex filter.  Any request that matches this filter will result in the page index being rebuilt.  So, if there is something in your Urls that looks like it will match this value, then you'd be getting too-frequent page index rebuilds.  But as yours is happening on a regular basis, rather than a random pattern, I'd say it has something to do with app pool recycling or web cache clearing.  It's very difficult to tell without an in-depth analysis of the site, including all the asp.net caching settings, IIS app pool and website settings and a few other things.

Hello Bruce,

It's not app pool recycling, for sure (I am on a VPS and we check with hosting provider, it only happen once a day).
web cache clearing, I do not know as I do not know how to check this.
For regex filter, I have the following: (.+)(ctl=tab)
Since I do not know what it means, can you provide some information ? Can I delete this without affecting too much my website ? We will then know if it is linked to regex filter or not, before investigating other solution.

Otherwise, do you have a good link to give me to customize 404 ?

Re: Too frequent event klog viewer "URL MASTER"

OK well like I said, it's difficult to say what might be causing it without looking into the site closer.  It's probably a cache setting somewhere.  I'll get an option to turn the message off.

Don't delete the value in the regex filter - that value is there so that the page index is updated after you create/edit a tab.  If you take it out, you'll have to restart your application every time you add, remove or modify a page.

For the 404 - umm, no - but it's just standard ASP.NET behaviour.  I'll put it on my list of things to document and probably do a blog entry or something.

Re: Too frequent event klog viewer "URL MASTER"

I temporary disable this just to check (being aware of the problem you mentionned). I will see....

But I can confirm that you should put an option to turn the message off, otherwise my eventlog viewer is full of this, and increase considerably (database is becoming bigger and bigger, I have to clear the log daily !!)
