DotNetNuke Consulting FAQ - Questions Bruce gets Asked Frequently
Q: How much will it cost me?
A: It varies, depending on the type and amount of work to be done. The amount of time will be agreed up front so you'll generally be working to a fixed price and any bugs and problems are fixed as they come up after it's finished. I'm here to develop long-term relationships with valued clients, not try and fleece people and disappear. My favourite types of customers are repeat customers, and I typically give them input into future feature sets, access to Beta testing and other bits and pieces. It may not be the cheapest rate you will get quoted but you are buying industry experience and knowledge, and I can generally sort the problems out twice as fast as somone charging half as much. Think of it as 'TCTFTP' - or 'total cost to fix the problem'.
Q: How can I work with you, you're on the other side of the world!
A: For North American or European clients, I am in a completely different timezone. However, in the past this has worked well, as it means you can leave a problem with me and go home for the night. Most of the time your solution will be in your inbox when you get back to work the next day. Communication is via ICQ/MSN/Skype/Email - you won't be left in the dark wondering what is happening.
Q: I need you to help me configure my DotNetNuke website - what access do you need?
A: Typically I need FTP access and 'host' user access. Normally you will grant me these permissions and then revoke them when the work is completed. I've been doing this for a few years now, and every site I've worked on has been in better condition than when I started, so you can have complete trust in what I do.
Q: Can you develop me a DotNetNuke skin?
A: Yes. But you're probably better off finding someone who concentrates on DNN skinning. My talents lie in software development rather than Html/Css authoring.
Q: How do you accept payment?
A: I use PayPal to accept payment for my work. I will send you a PayPal invoice when the work is done.
Q: I need a module developed, but I don't want to pay full price for the development. Can you share development costs with me in return for the ability to see the Module in the futre?
A: Absolutely. This model works out well for everyone. If you need a module developed (or an existing module modified) - then we can reach a deal if the terms look good. Use the contact form to send your request in.
